Meteorology Expects Rainfall of Varied Intensity

Sana'a - (Saba): The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning predicts scattered rainfall of varying intensity across several governorates, extremely hot and humid conditions in the deserts, plains, and coastal areas, and rough seas over the next 24 hours. According to the center's weather bulletin, varying intensity rainfall, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is expected in the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Dhale'a, Raymah, Al Mahwit, and Hajjah. Scattered rainfall is likely in parts of the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana'a, and Bayda, and may extend eastward to include parts of the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwah. The center indicated the possibility of active to strong winds blowing over the Socotra Archipelago and the eastern coasts, with speeds ranging between 30-40 knots. The weather may be extremely hot in the deserts and coastal plains, with maximum temperatures ranging between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius. The weather will be hot and humid in coastal areas, with temperatures ranging between 33 and 39 degrees Celsius. The center reported that the amount of rainfall over the past 24 hours, measured at meteorological stations in Ibb, was 18.3 mm, As-Saddah-Ibb: 3.2 mm, Taiz, Al-Ma'afir: 1.9 mm, and Ad Dali': 0.6 mm. Scattered thunderstorms fell in the governorates of Dhamar, Raymah, Mahwit, Amran, and Hajjah, but were outside the monitoring stations. The center warned citizens in mountainous areas where rainfall is expected to occur of thunderstorms and of staying in or crossing floodwaters during and after rainfall. It also warned seafarers, fishermen, and ship captains of high seas and rough waves around the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern Gulf of Aden, and the eastern coasts. The center also warned citizens in deserts and coastal plains of the hot and extremely hot weather and advised against direct exposure to the sun during the midday hours.
